Ron Warren Memorial Band Scholarship
About Ron
Ronald “Ron” Warren, graduated from Gobles High school in 1987. He and his brothers grew up on North Lake. During his years at Gobles High School, he was an avid member of the Gobles High School Band. Ron also played at Blue Lakes Fine Arts. Ron played saxophone, but was better known for playing the Bassoon. At one point, Ron and other musically gifted students toured Europe to showcase their fights and represent Gobles, Michigan and the High School he truly loved. Ron tragically passed away from a fatal heart attack on August 30, 2021.
Criteria
The goal of this scholarship is to encourage a student that has been an active member of the Gobles High School Band, and is pursuing an education by enrolling in a college of their choice.
The recipient may be enrolled in a two year community college or in a 4 year college program
The student must be a Gobles High School graduating senior and had been enrolled and
an active member in the Band program(s) during their senior year. No exceptions.
The student must have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5.
The student must have portrayed excellent citizenship.
The student must have shown community and school participation.
The student must have demonstrated exemplary participation and demeanor.
The selection committee shall consist of the following members:
● High school Principal
● High school Counselor
● Band Director
Scholarship Amount and Presentation:
The scholarship shall be annually and be of $1,000.00 per year, awarding one student.
